A Content Management System (CMS) is a system put in place to allow non-technical people to update and maintain the content of websites.

Content Management Systems are usually a component of a dynamic database driven website - i.e. All the content is stored in a database and then called by the website when required.

WestWindMoves develop 90% of Content Management Systems in-house. However, we have also developed sites using "off the shelf" solutions such as Mambo, PostNuke and Actinic.

The advantage of a Content Management System is that although it may add a little more expense on to initial development costs, it will save a lot more money in the long run, as the client can maintain the website. For certain categories of website such as an E-Commerce solution with products, categories and prices that change with regularity, a CMS is almost essential.
